Specific Need

The Flint Hills Veterans Coalition (FHVC) uses funds raised to promote and execute the annual Manhattan Veterans Day Parade and to execute other good works promoting patriotism and honoring veterans throughout the community (seelist, below). The FHVC is a 501c(19) veterans charity 100% volunteer led with no paid staff.

Mission

The mission of the Flint Hills Veterans Coalition is to foster patriotism, promote Veterans Day, and honor veterans throughout the community. In addition to the annual Manhattan Veterans Day parade, we accomplish our mission via scholarships for veteran students, and other good works benefitting veterans in need.

Profile

In addition to the annual Manhattan Veterans Day Parade, the Flint HIlls Veterans Coalition promotes good works throught the community via (but not limited to) the following programs:

  • Support Kansas Honor Flight Program by sending two veterans a year to Washington DC
  • Provide six scholarships annually to veteran students: two to Kansas State University; two to Manhattan Christian College; two to Manhattan Area Technical College
  • Provide monetary support to Habitat for Humaity's Veteran Build Program
  • Provide monetary support for Hospice House's Veteran Caregiver Program
  • Veterans Day Poster (for 3rd - 6th grade students) and Essay (for 7th to  12th grade students) Contest
  • Provide monetary support K-State RECONDO Team
  • Coordinate the annual Veterans Day Commemorative Ceremony immediately following the parade
