Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation Military Fund

Specific Need

The Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation will be using funds raised to promote free admission days for all Gold Star Families, active- duty and reserve military, veterans, and their families. This will be offered on November 10th and 11th, but we hope to acquire additional funds to allow for this to occur on other days throughout the year along with incorporating additional programming at the Center to enjoy those free admission days.

Mission

The mission of the Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation along with the Flint Hills Discovery Center is to provide a free opportunity to all military and their families a visit to the Flint Hills Discovery Center, in gratitude for their contributions and sacrifices they make for our country, state, region and community. Creating an educational and sensory format for learning about the last remaining 4% of the tallgrass prairie in North America.

Profile

On November 10th and 11th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, guests will have access and get to experience the Discovery Center including: The new Prairie Playscape hands-on kids exhibit, the 4D immersive film Tides of Time playing in the Horizon Ranch Theater, permanent exhibit galleries that explore the science, history, and culture of the Flint Hills, panoramic views of Manhattan and the Kansas River Valley on the Prairie Garden Terrace, and lastly the new temporary exhibit Great Plains: America's Lingering Wild. The Flint Hills Discovery Center Foundation advances the mission and work of the Flint Hills Discovery Center through dynamic and vibrant development programs which identity, cultivate, solicit, and express appreciation to donors of the Foundation. The Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3.
