War Horses for Veterans, Inc.

Goal: $20,000.00

Specific Need

War Horses for Veterans is seeking $20,000 in funds to assist us in building a new barn. Our current barn was built in the late 1800’s and has been updated however, lacks the room, storage of equipment, and feeding supplies to meet our current needs. With the growth over the last several years, our addition of more horses and equipment has been steady with the demand of our programs. Currently, we have been using temporary housing in the lower level of our property to house horses. This structure is exposed to the elements all year with open portions of each stall for air flow. The temporary stalls are not ideal, which has caused us not to use all the stalls available due to the deterioration of the structure.

Mission

Through exceptional horsemanship, War Horses for Veterans provides combat veterans and first responders the tools for growth personally and professionally, serving combat veterans from all over the country and local First Responders.

Our mission at WHFV is to equip veterans, first responders and others for success by using reflection and personal growth. Our goal is to help veterans and first responders who experienced life-disrupting trauma to recover from their limitations, to repurpose their talents and abilities to a successful life, and to reintegrate into their families, workplaces, and communities. We envision a community of combat veterans, first responders and others who support one another as each individual moves from trauma through recovery to a productive and sustainable life.

Profile

WHFV is a 501(c)3 established in 2014 and developed by combat veterans to help them with the transition to civilian life.  After working with several combat veterans with careers in law enforcement, we began to see the parallels between them and the need for First Responders to have access to a program of their own. We have helped hundreds veterans nation-wide since we started and began working with First Responders in 2019 to develop this division. We have developed a program, keeping Veterans and First Responders at optimal performance. Veterans and First Responder deal with a lot of traumatic situations in their duties and burnout and job turnover is a common problem. There aren't adequate support systems in place to assist them. Our programs focus on leadership development, personal growth and skills for success through horsemanship, improving overall quality of life.
