Pawnee Mental Health Active and Veterans Services Fund

Specific Need

At Pawnee, we honor those who have served. Our Prior Service Program is dedicated to supporting prior service members and their families, no matter the branch of service or circumstances of departure. No DD214 required.

Military service can have a lasting impact on mental health, not just for those who served, but for their loved ones, too. Our program is designed to tackle these unique challenges head-on, offering compassionate, culturally competent care.

We provide a range of personalized services, from counseling and psychiatric care to case management and guidance through the VA system. Our goal is to reduce stigma and ensure help is always within reach—whether at home, in the community, or wherever it’s needed.

Mission

At Pawnee Mental Health we are committed to enhancing the well-being of individuals and families in our community through a holistic approach to behavioral health and recovery services. Our mission is to provide compassionate, person-centered care that fosters healing, empowerment, and resilience.

Profile

Imagine a child walking through our doors, scared and unsure, and leaving with a smile after finding safety through play therapy. Picture an adult in crisis who feels like all hope is gone—until our Mobile Crisis Team shows up at their doorstep, ready to listen, support, and help them through. Think about a family who finally finds peace after years of struggle, because someone cared enough to connect them with the right therapist at the right time.

This is Pawnee Mental Health. For nearly 69 years, we’ve been more than a clinic—we’ve been a lifeline. As a nonprofit Community Mental Health Center (CMHC), Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), and licensed alcohol and drug treatment center, we serve 10 counties across North Central Kansas with one mission: to provide compassionate, expert care for every person who needs it, whenever and wherever they need it.

From outpatient therapy and medical services to youth programs, substance use recovery, and 24/7 crisis response, our team meets people in their hardest moments and walks beside them toward healing. At Pawnee, we believe mental health and recovery are for everyone. And with the support of our communities, hope isn’t just possible—it’s happening here, every single day.
